How we build, check, review, and correct the information on SI Filing.

Who is responsible

SI Filing is responsible for the content published on this site and approves every change to legal information before it is published. SI Filing is not a law firm, no one at SI Filing acts as your attorney, and SI Filing does not provide legal advice.

Before live letter analysis launches, the legal pages and the rights library described below will be reviewed by a licensed attorney.

Official sources first

Every rule, figure, and deadline on SI Filing comes from a current official source: a federal or state agency, a court, or a legal aid organization. Each one is linked so you can check it yourself.

The rights library

The explanations of the law in SI Filing reports come from a fixed library of short, plain-English cards. Each card is written from an official source, cites that source, and is reviewed before use. The AI selects which cards may apply to a document. It does not write its own legal rules.

Federal and state information

We keep federal rules separate from state rules. A state page shows state-specific rules only after they have been researched and verified. Until then, it says so and links to official sources.

How pages are made

  1. Research. We start from questions people facing debt collection actually ask.
  2. Drafting. We use AI tools to help draft. Drafts may use only official sources.
  3. Fact-checking. Every claim is checked against its source. Anything that cannot be sourced is removed.
  4. Human approval. Every change to legal information is reviewed and approved before it is published. Nothing is published automatically.

Sample reports

Sample reports use fictional letters, companies, people, and amounts. They show how a report works and are never based on a real person's document.

Neutral about companies

Our public content is generic, neutral, and factual. We do not publish accusations, rankings, blacklists, or individual consumer disputes, and our examples use fictional company and attorney names. Any feature about specific companies waits for review by a qualified attorney.

Corrections

If you find an error, tell us and choose "Report an error." We review every report and correct confirmed errors promptly.
